Anthony Nevoso '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Anthony Nevoso, and I am a Senior graduating in 2016. I'md a Catcher at Moorpark High School. I am 6 ft 185 lb I have a 4.00 GPA taking 3 AP classes this year with a class rank of 32 out of 499. As a Sophomore I started on the Varsity Baseball team in one of the toughest leagues in the country. As our year progressed, I earned the trust of my coaches and teammates by working hard to improve my skills everyday as well as handling a very talented pitching staff. At the end of the year our team made the Playoffs by finishing second in our division and I was awarded by my teammates as the most improved player on the team. As a  junior I had a breakout season winning All league honors baseball has been my passion ever since I have been a little boy,and it has been my dream to play and learn at the highest level I can. As I progressed, what made me really enjoy the game was that it was more than just a physical challenge, it was a mental challenge. One of my favorite quotes from baseball is that Baseball is 90% mental and 10% physical. Although it may be only 10% physical I have always prided myself on always working hard to improve, and never accepting less than a 100 percent. In addition I also strive on being a great leader for my teammates on the diamond and on campus. Being a Catcher, you have to be the captain on the field for your teammates, which is what the greatest players have done for years. Off the field, I'm involved in the leadership program at my high school working to be an example for the student body by mentoring others throughout the year. These traits have driven me on the field as well as off the field in my development as a person, as well as an athlete. Given the opportunity, I am extremely confident that I can bring a lot to any college program that I'm privileged to get a chance to play for.
