My Freshman year of high school, I tried out for three sports; basketball, football, and baseball. I made all three teams, but decided that three sports along with taking three honors classes was going to be too much if I wanted to excel at everything. I decided to play football and baseball. My Freshman year, I received the coaches award for both football and baseball. I played both sports through my Sophomore year. Even though I ended up lettering in football as a Sophomore, I began to develop a real passion for baseball. I am now focused solely on baseball and trying to advance my baseball career to the next level.
I am interested in finding a University that is a good fit for me, both athletically and academically.
I have excelled in all subjects, but specifically in mathematics. I am currently in AP Calculus BC as a Junior. The key to my academic success has come from creating strong habits and being disciplined in my studies. I manage my workload and my time in order to be prepared for each subject and each test.
On the baseball field, I have a strong work ethic, I am seen as a leader by team mates, and I am very coachable. In order to achieve success, you need to be constantly working on some aspect of your game. It could be working out, taking extra fly balls, hitting in the cage, watching videos of my at-bats, or thinking and writing about the mental aspect of baseball. A characteristic of mine, is being able to listen. I am open to feedback and making the adjustments as needed. I am constantly evaluating my performance(both good and bad) to identify learning opportunities so that I can have continued improvement. Every at-bat, every game, every day; I want to get better.
I think that it is important to have a good group of friends to surround yourself with and to enjoy being a teenager. In between school and baseball, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and being social.
I also am active with my family. I have a younger brother who plays multiple sports. We try to ensure that there is a balance in our lives and spend quality time together.
I would like to find a University that has a strong culture, high expectations, and a experienced and credible staff to work with, both athletically and academically. This way I can give my best and truly make a difference.
