My name is Mikel, and I want to thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my personal statement. Since the first day I stepped on the diamond, I realized that with hard work and determination I have great potential. Now I work on my game every day no matter what is on the calendar and with no regrets. This hard work only makes me more determined to come out the next day and do the same thing to accomplish my dream of being a successful college baseball player. All my current successes are matched with struggles. I am 5'8"and weigh 150 pounds. Throughout my entire life I've been challenged by those that overlook me because of my size, I have accepted that it will always be an uphill battle. I will continue to work hard to win the battle because although I may look small, I hit the ball as hard if not harder than most of my peers. As a student athlete I take pride in my education, and I am looking for a school with great coaches who will assist me to be the best athlete on the field and student in the classroom. I am looking to pursue my degree in accounting and finance. In terms of geography, I am excited about the possibility of being able to live in a new part of the country given that I am an independent person. Also, much like baseball, college in my eyes is full of great social experiences, therefore no matter the size of the school I will make memories that I will never forget. Thank you again for your time and consideration, and I look forward to a bright future where I will continue to grow and succeed as a student athlete.
