Hello my name is Edmund Pierce. I am currently attending Toll Gate High School in Warwick, Rhode Island. I have been wrestling since the third grade. It quickly became my favorite sport. Until my sophomore year, I was only wrestling during the season. However, I made the decision to wrestle year-round and add Judo to my training routine at the Mayo Quanchi Judo and Wrestling Club in West Warwick, RI. This greatly increased my wrestling abilities. It has given me the opportunity to compete all over the country including the Clovis Wrestling Tournament in California.
I also expanded my competition to Judo. My first Judo tournament was the 2013 National Judo Junior Olympics. I placed forth. Returning to the National Judo Junior Olympics in 2014, I won the Silver Medal at 90 kilos. I continued on to the 2014 International Junior Olympics winning the Bronze Medal. To increase the level of difficulty, I have continued to compete in multiple weight classes at the Junior and Senior age divisions at local Judo tournaments, receiving multiple medals for my efforts.
In addition to my accomplishments on the mat and leading my high school team as the Captain, I offer some of my time back to the community. Coaching the wrestling skills that I have learned over the years to the youth wrestling programs has sharpened mine as well. Aside from coaching I have also refereed in the RI Wrestling Association’s Youth Wrestling Tournaments. I have also volunteered at a number of road races. Some of my responsibilities at the road races included directing traffic along the race route, checking and verifying registrations, handling out water at stopping points during the race, and handing out metals to people who completed the race.
Thank you for looking at my profile. I am very eager to start my college wrestling career. One of my favorite parts of wrestling is that even though you are alone on the mat, your team is right there by your side. Some of my closest friends were met at wrestling practices and competitions. I hope that you will consider making me part of your team.
