I began wrestling as a 7th grader on my Junior High team. When I first joined the sport, I was simply following in the footsteps of my older brother John who had joined the previous year. As the season progressed I grew a love for the sport, everything about it was intriguing to me. From rolling out and cleaning the mats every day in practice, to the sore bodies on Saturday nights after an intense day of wrestling. Three years and 60 pounds later I was starting on my High School Varsity team for the first time as a sophomore. The idea of this was initially intimidating, but soon enough I grew into the position and adapted to the increasing intensity of workouts to compete at the spot, and have loved every second of it. Now that I am a Junior I have had the oppurtunity to work with many successful wrestlers at both the high school and collegiate level. Many graduates from my highschool team have gone on to wrestle in college and when they return to the practice room, I am able to wrestle with them. Simply from being in their presence I can feel an energy that most guys dont have and i'd like to have that same feeling for myself. I realize that being on a college team is very prestigious and only a select few are selected for it. I am determined to become one of those few. My most notable features in wrestling is my endurance and ability to exhaust my opponents throughout the match. I atrribute this to the fact that I run cross country and highly value the importance of conditioning and physical fitness. When in the practice room I enjoy pushing my self to my limits, and then a bit more simply for the self gratification of knowing that the majority of my peers could not do what my teammates and I do every day. As far as acadmeics go, I will be taking 5 AP courses throughout my highschool career, and I have maintained a 3.3 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.
