My name is Jakob Warner, and I am a 5’10” 160 pound student athlete. I will be graduating high school in the Spring of 2017 from Wayland High School in Massachusetts. I have sought out competition at every level ever since I could walk. My personal motto as it relates to sports is “To be the best, you have to beat the best”. My whole life, I have endeavored to compete at the highest level in everything I do. I take nothing for granted and put in maximum effort to produce the best possible results.
Growing up, I played a variety of sports including, lacrosse, baseball, basketball, tennis, skiing and soccer. I can make a competitive game out of just about anything, because I love to compete, and to strive to be the best at whatever I do. I was introduced to the sport of wrestling going into the 8th grade and I soon realized it was the sport I felt passionate about. The aspects of wrestling I like the best are the need to develop and execute a strategy, as well as the need to remain composed under pressure. I live by these two fundamental rules as I compete on the mat and countless people comment on my composure. I have developed into a dominant technical wrestler and a recognized leader on both my club and school teams. That being said I know I can always get better and I continue to work tirelessly on the physical and mental aspects necessary to improve my wrestling skills.
As a student I bring the same passion to learning that I have for all of my other activities. I have maintained a high academic average throughout my 3 years of high school. I recognize that education is the gateway to my future and that sports are a tool to help me develop the discipline necessary to become a highly successful person.
As a high school student, I find myself thinking a lot about my future. I have decided that one of my aspirations is to wrestle at the collegiate level. I hope to compete against athletes and wrestlers from around the nation and gain experience as both a wrestler and a person. I am beginning to develop a long range plan to become a successful person, and I believe college is essential to my ability to reach this goal.
As I begin to look forward, I believe I have built an incredibly strong foundation from which to pursue my dreams. I will continue to put in the time and effort to be the best I can be, and I greatly look forward to finding a college where I can bring my talents to bear.
