Personal Statement

2016 Iowa HS State Wrestling Champion, 3x State Place Winner, 4x State Qualifier, with 176 career wins.

I am currently a senior at the Moravia Community School District in Moravia, Iowa, where I’ve been actively involved in wrestling since kindergarten. From the beginning, I’ve been fortunate enough to have placed on the podium every year at the state level as well as national tournaments.

Academically, I currently have a 3.5 GPA and I have been taking college classes since my freshman year. Both of my parents are teachers so I understand the importance of my personal academic goals and achievements. I fully recognize that the primary purpose of college is for obtaining a quality education and that my wrestling skills and accomplishments can help me get a degree.

Wrestling has helped me understand that nothing comes easy in life - you get out what you put in whether that’s on the mat, in school, or in life. I embrace failures, learn from mistakes, and be the best I can be to reach my goals.

I’m seeking a selective college with a competitive wrestling program that fits the same work ethic and values that I have.
