Hello Coach,
My name is Rodney A. Jones II. I am currently Senior at Duluth High School apart of the Class of 2015 where I am the captain of a 6A wrestling program. GO Wild Cats!! I've wrestled on Varsity since my freshman year.
My current record senior is 58W 4L.I placed 2nd in the state this year for 170 and 3rd in the state my junior year for 170. I am also a two time 1st place county placer. I have broken several records at my school and in the county.
I plan to wrestle at a college or university. I plan to wrestle in the Olympics as a freestyle wrestler.
My inspiration is the freestyle Olympic champion Jordan Burroughs. Ever since I saw him wrestle in the Olympic finals I fell in love with the sport even more. Even though I have played football for almost 10 years, I feel like wrestling is the sport I was meant to play. I also love the sport because of the learning aspect of it. I am a very coachable wrestler and pick up on new moves very quickly. Another fact about me is I give 200% effort during practice and in matches.
My favorite aspects of wrestling are performing takedowns and my favorite takedown is the double leg or blast double takedown. Near the end of my sophomore year it really showed how much better I've got at doing double leg takedowns. My ultimate goal and dream is to be a better freestyle wrestler than Jordan Burroughs by becoming the best wrestler on the planet.
I also the captain of the Duluth High Football 6A team. Being apart of the wrestling team and applying wrestling skills have also helped me to become a better football athlete.
