The 1st video is of my Regional matches where I placed 3rd and moved on as a State qualifier.
My goal is to go to a 4-year university and then enter the Air Force as a Special Tactics PJ, Combat Rescue Officer—following in my dad’s footsteps—he is a special operations Combat Controller.
I started wrestling in the 10th grade to stay conditioned for football, but after my first win I got the fever for the sport and have not looked back. I would say that my first year was a learning year with only a few wins. My second year, my junior year, I came out with a 37-21 record and I advanced to Districts and Regionals. Despite not advancing past Regionals, I feel like I had a good year given how new I am to the sport and I was very proud that I ended the season being pinned only once. I was also chosen as team captain representing the juniors and now as a senior. My senior year is winding down, (42-15) and I placed 1st in our DISTRICT 1 2A Championship. I placed 3rd in our Regional 1 2A Championship . State Qualifier . State Championship is this weekend. Named Northwest Florida Daily News 1st team for 170 class division.
This past summer I was very busy. In addition to football practice and two football camps, I also attended two AAU tournaments and for each tournament I wrestled in two divisions. I ended up taking 1st place in the 170-weight class, 2nd place 185, 1st place 195, and 2nd place HW. I also was fortunate to be able to attend a Penn State wrestling camp where I learned a lot of new techniques that I know will help me advance to State this year.
Our school does not wrestle year round but our coach gives us the opportunity to experience wrestling at the highest level at huge out of state wrestling events almost every weekend. We just returned from a 32 team dual in Baton Rouge and our team placed 1st in our B bracket . We face state runner ups and champions each week to get some quality mat time. We rarely face the same teams in our district until the district meet. I find that giving us that type of exposure to different state wrestlers has helped my wrestling a lot. I linked my schedule on my profile so that you can see the types of Duals and IBTs we attend.
I feel that I am a hard worker, fast learner, and I look forward to learning a lot more and helping our team advance to State this year. I care about my team and I always try to be a good role model for the younger wrestlers. I am a senior captain this year and hold that role with pride and hope to be a great role model for my team mates. I have had the chance to wrestle at various weight classes, however, my ideal season division is 170 or 182. I also have the privilege of having a couple family friends who wrestled in college and are helping me to improve my techniques.
Being in a military family has been very good for me. It has also taught me resiliency and the flexibility to adapt to unknown situations. In my school years we have lived in North Carolina, Japan, Texas, Germany, and now Florida. My dad is a Special Operations Combat Controller and he has taught me the importance of core strength and cardio fitness and he continues to work with me--he has showed me a lot about dedication and what it takes to strive to be the best. It also doesn’t hurt to have direct access to some of the best military training facilities around.
As far as my grades, I have a 3.8 weighted GPA and I know that I can improve my GPA my senior year. Most of my classes are honor and AP classes. I scored a 23 on my ACT and a 1600 on my latest SAT. I will retake them in February. I’m looking forward to this year and improving my academics. So far I have received acceptance letters to Auburn University, Florida State University, Appalachian State University, University of Central Florida, Troy University, Hannibal- LaGrange University, Southeastern University, and Huntingdon College.
Thank you for looking at my profile.
