I was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and have dual citizenship. My parents are from Ecuador, and we moved to the United States when I was less than one year old, but travel frequently to Ecuador to visit family. Prior to starting High school, I have attended school in Ecuador during most of the United States summer vacation period. I am fluent in Spanish.
I have attended Weston Schools since kindergarten. Weston High School, is ranked number one in CT and also ranks highly on a national level.
I had practiced jiu-jitsu for two years prior to starting wrestling my Freshman Year. I began asking my coaches and Senior teammates on ways to improve myself; eventually obtaining a Varsity Spot the same season. Once the season was over, I pursued additional intensive training in order to further develop my skills in the sport. My second season of Wrestling was quite different as I started to pin most of my opponents on the mat. Unfortunately I was injured early on in the season, thus being unable to participate for the rest of my Sophomore season. Although very discouraged I still felt obligated to my team and continued to attend the practices in order to help out the newer members of the team. Once I fully healed I joined more wrestling camps in order to make up for lost time. I reached out for further technique training, attending camps in Institutions such as Penn State University, Cornell, University of Virginia, and West Point. Once my Junior year commenced I had taken what I had learned throughout my challenges, in the past years, in order to not only succeed on a personal level but also to encourage and train my teammates; taking a leadership role within the team.
I would like to have the opportunity to wrestle in college. Since freshman year I have been committed to the sport and my team. I believe that wrestling has been fundamental in my life; as it has strenghten my core values, as well as my physical and mental strength.
In my spare time I enjoy videography. I have been creating short films since middle school. I have a youtube channel with my work, and actively participate in school projects creating, producing and editing films. I also participate weekly in a youth program mentoring underprivileged middle schoolers. As a hobby, I also enjoy gardening, being an active participant in the Garden Club at school.
I plan to study Economics in College/University either in a business program or within the Arts and Science program.
