The first thing my coach will tell you is that I'm a competitor; I hate to lose. I put a lot of effort into being a graceful winner or loser, but I really don't like losing. I have been blessed to be on winning teams throughout my volleyball career. As a varsity starter, my team's record is 57-15 (79.2%) with back-to-back 4th place finishes at the state tournament. I have one more shot in 2014 to be on a state championship team, and I'm going to do everything I can to make that happen.
2013 was a good volleyball season for me individually. I received All-Conference, All-County, and All-State awards as a junior. While I was thrilled to receive these individual honors, the highlight of the season was getting the 4th place trophy at the state tournament with a team starting one senior, two juniors, three sophomores, and a freshman.
I'm a good student in the classroom, and I'm also a student of volleyball. I listen to my coaches and do my best to execute their instructions on the court. I take pride in being an encouraging leader and get excited when I see my teammates make great plays. As a setter, I see it as my responsibility to make sure we play together as a team and get the most out of our abilities. I'm looking forward to doing that next season in high school, then continuing at the collegiate level.
