Without question, volleyball is my passion in life. I'm now 15 and playing my 7th year of club volleyball. I love the competition and I can’t wait to prove to myself, my teammates, and my coaches that we can win against some of the best players in the country. In a word, I’d describe myself as being “tenacious”. If things go south, I don’t dwell on it... I get back to work! I take suggestions from coaches and teammates to heart and I really enjoy the drills and practices because I know my hard work will pay off in the end. As a setter, I take great pride in delivering the most hittable ball possible from anywhere on the court. I have large hands which help me control and set a very “soft” ball. I have good peripheral vision and court awareness which helps me distribute the ball and control the flow of the game. I love the excitement of our hitters getting a kill off a perfectly set ball!
I also finished my 2nd season playing for Slinger High School's varsity team. Last year I was the first freshman to play varsity in the last 7 years and this year I received All-Conference Honorable Mention which was very exciting. I’m very grateful to be able to play with some outstanding volleyball players & coaches and I love the excitement of playing in front of our fired up student section!
One of the most important skills I’ve learned from volleyball is how to manage my time. I’ve learned to handle the pressure of performing well on the court as well as in the classroom. I currently have a 3.6 GPA (working to improve on that as well) and I am taking AP and honors courses. I was fortunate to be selected to attend the Jostens Leadership Conference my freshman year and this year I was part of our team's Leadership Committee and also took part of the Conference Athletic Leadership Summit. I am very grateful for these opportunities and I try to apply the skills I've learned every time I’m on the court. When I can, I also enjoy volunteering.
My goals are to continue to perfect my volleyball and leadership skills. My hope is to find a college that will allow me to continue playing volleyball at a high level of competition with the ultimate goal of winning championships. However, I am also looking for an excellent college education. Although I do not have a major selected yet, I would like to study in a field that allows me to continue helping others, possibly in health care.
