Evan Larson '16 Recruiting Profile

At this point, I'm thinking about education, coaching and psychology as it pertains to counseling high school aged kids. I really like the idea of teaching kids, but being involved with sports and athletes is also very important. I've been trying to come up with ways I might be able to combine all of them. I've only been playing volleyball since my freshman year, but have grown to love it and become pretty successful at it. I would like to think I could take it to the next level and use it to help with my college expenses. I've competed in other sports over the past 7+ years at the club and recreation level. Soccer was the first sport I was drawn to, but decided at 6' tall my talents could be put to better use in other sports ... and that's when I discovered volleyball. When I'm not in camp or working this summer, I'm spending a lot of time with a personal trainer to improve my core and help me pick up my game for the upcoming Varsity and club seasons. I've been very fortunate in my first three club season to find coaches who taught me so much about the game and my role in it. I played U18 last year so I will be looking for a new club team this year since most of my Island Thunder teammates have moved on to college. I'm very excited to see what the next few months have in store.
