Chase Doughty '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Chase Doughty, and I am an outside hitter graduating in the class of 2015. I have been playing volleyball for five years, and each year I fall more in love with the game. I play for Weber High School in Pleasant View, Utah, and club for Weber State (Wildcat).

Each time I step on the court my immediate mindset is how I can use my talents to better the team’s performance as a whole. To me a win is far more rewarding than personal stats. I take constructive criticism very well, and work hard to use it to improve my game. I have played every position. Although I am an outside hitter I am willing to play whatever position the coach feels will benefit the team, WITH a great attitude.  I am very fortunate to be able to play the sport I love and possibly use that sport to help further my education. My goal is to graduate with a masters in horticulture, and someday run my own nursery.

Whatever I commit to, I commit 100%, whether in the gym or in the classroom. When I’m not on the court, I volunteer at children’s volleyball camps and referee little league. I am also a children’s ministry teacher at my church.  I love playing outdoor volleyball with a teammate on my school team, and have used this to better my ability to be quicker on the court. Being a 5’8 outside hitter, I have worked hard to increase my vertical. I have increased it by 4 inches in the last year. I am a very dedicated player and my number one priority is my team.
