Makayla R. Barboza '20 Recruiting Profile

   My name is Makayla R. Barboza, and I am a middle blocker from Uvalde, Texas. I have been playing volleyball for 3 years and stepping on that court for the very first time has been the best thing I've ever done. I play quite a few sports softball, basketball, volleyball, and I am a thrower in track. Volleyball has become my favorite sport as well as my top priority. Once my foot hits inside that court everything has changed I become a totally different person. I don't just play for the name on the back of the jersey but more for the name on the front. In order to win or just appreciate the way the game was played you have to work as a team. Without a good pass, there's no set, which means there's no hit, which leaves the team without a point that could have made a huge difference in the game. I think what makes me different from other recruits is that no matter what I will never ever give up, if I do something wrong I will do it over and over until I get it perfect and I will also always have a positive attitude throughout it all. My promise to give it all I have, my discipline, hard work, the ability of being coachable,  and most important my love for the game makes me a great candidate for your team. I am willing to accept the challenge of playing at a much higher level and giving it 100% of my effort. 

   School always comes before sports no matter what, as my coaches say there's the "no pass, no play rule." I want to be sure and get into a college that is best for me in both academics and volleyball. I am high in my class, and I am also in all advanced classes. Being high in my class is very important, without high grades I will never reach my dream of being a pediatrician. I know I still have a lot to learn, but with my dedication and commitment I am definitely ready to take the challenge!!
