Makenna Hanssen '18 Recruiting Profile

Makenna is a Junior at Brennan High School in San Antonio, Tx. Makenna has been playing volleyball since she was 9 at the club level, but has been exposed to it her entire life (mom is a HS volleyball coach of 20+ yrs). The last 6 years Makenna has played for the Alamo Volleyball Club on the National Team at her age level. She just finished competing at Junior Nationals (Indianapolis) in the American division with her club team (Alamo 16 Elite) after competing in 15 open in 2015,they won 14 Patriot Division at GJNC in Minneapolis, MN. The year prior, her 13 National team finished 3rd in the National Division at J.O.'s in Dallas, Tx, after finishing 5th at Nationals in Columbus, Ohio the previous year at 12 Nationals. Makenna is a well rounded volleyball player, but is a defensive specialist, playing Libero on her High School and Club teams. She is developing and learning the game at a high level and will be an asset to any program in the future. Makenna would love to play volleyball at the collegiate level while obtaining her degree in Sports Medicine/Physical Therapy.

07/17/2014 - Volleyball Factory Lone Star Select Training - Makenna is the type of player you want to recruit early. As a libero she already possesses superior skill in technique over many of her classmates. Makenna has a controlled poise on the court that yields incredible results. As a passer she consistently offers a high quality height and location for her setter. Defensively she is able to make appropriate reads and fearlessly dig hard hit balls to target. Only entering her freshman year she will be the player other teams feel like never graduates. She will make a huge impact for every team she is on. I would like for her to be more vocal as she gains the confidence and mental toughness needed to match her tremendous ability.
