My name is Allie Rae Plunk and I am a seventeen-year-old junior at Birdville High School in North Richland Hills, Texas. I've been the starting varsity setter for my high school team for the past three years, running a 5-1 offense for the first two years. My freshman year, I received Newcomer of the Year for my district, and Setter of the Year and Server of the Year for my high school. My sophomore year, I was co-captain and received 1st Team All-District, along with Setter of the Year and Server of the Year, again, for my high school. This current school season, I was captain and starting varsity setter and outside/rightside hitter. I received 1st Team All-District along with MVP and Setter of the Year for my high school. I was the captain of my club team last year, Texas Image 16 Mizuno. We qualified for Division I of the Tour of Texas and barely missed the bid to JO's placing second in the National Division at Lone Star. This club season, I am the captain and setter for Texas Image 17 Mizuno Zach. In previous club seasons, I've always been the starting setter and have usually run a 5-1 offense. Last season, my club team ran a 6-2 offense, which allowed me to play all around as a setter and hitter. I hit outside, middle, and right side. I enjoyed having the opportunity to further develop my all-around skills. I have several qualities that would make me a strong asset to any college program. My leadership skills on the court help me to better my teammates. As a captain, I feel it is my responsibilty to keep my team going in times of defeat and to keep them focused in times of victory. My experience and knowledge of the game help me to play smart and make good decisions. My work ethic and athleticism have made me the skilled player I am today. I am undecided regarding my college major and I am open to any geographic location. I am leaning toward a science degree with thoughts of a graduate degree in medicine, or possibly chemical engineering. I enjoy both math and chemistry in school. At the moment, I am ranked number 12 in my class of 470 with a 104 GPA. My academic goal is to graduate within the top ten in the class of 2013. I have played organized volleyball since I was in the third grade, but I've been a 'gym rat' from about age two or three. I have loved it from the first moment I touched a ball. In my nine years of playing, never have I lost any interest in the game. I have dreamt of playing volleyball in college since my first game at the YMCA. My athletic goal is to be a starting collegiate player, hopefully, as a freshman.
