Andrea Nava '16 Recruiting Profile

I am in my senior year and I started playing volleyball when I was 8 years old. My passion in this game comes from a long personal history and strong family tradition of aggressive volleyball. On both travel and local teams across South Texas, I’ve developed a style many of my coaches have described as ‘feisty.’ – And, I’m pretty sure they’re right.

At a young age, I attacked the sport of volleyball with all my time, love, and dedication. When junior high volleyball didn’t grant me enough time, I invested my spare time in the local YMCA and various club teams so that I could learn and master my art. During my sophomore year, I was fortunate enough to be invited to participate in both the junior varsity and varsity teams at Clear Lake High School. And, in my junior and senior years, I played as starting Libero for the ‘Lake Nation.’

As if the knowledge shared with me by my coaches wasn’t enough of an honor, I was further blessed with recognition of my achievements with several awards and an opportunity to serve as a coach myself – to pass on the volleyball tradition. In the 2014-2015 season, I received a nomination for Region 3 Division 6A 2nd Team’s All-District Libero as well as Clear Lake High School’s Defensive Player of the Year. During the current season 2015-2016, PrepVolleyball granted me Honorable Mention in their Defensive Dandies list and a place on the 2015 All Texas Team - Player to Watch List.  I have also been awarded CCISD All-Tournament Team.  With my club season vastly approaching, I am looking forward to even more competition while playing on the Houston Juniors 18's National Team.  

Although I graciously accepted the above mentioned awards for my skills, Assistant Coaching for the Gulf Coast Volleyball Association during the 2014-2015 club season for the 13’s age group allowed me to view the sport from a new point of view. It was an opportunity I’ll never forget, a moment when I brought the inspiration of volleyball to others. Likewise, to be taken as consideration for your 2016-2017 Volleyball Program would mean another chance to take my volleyball career to the next level – a chance I’d be sure to take advantage of.

Now, you may be wondering about my height. Well, as my mom says, big things come in small packages – like dynamite! And, that’s not just how I play on the court… that’s how I play at life. I am explosive with energy, promoting positive team morale on a daily basis. I look forward to showing you what I’ve got!
