This is my fifth year of experience playing volleyball and first year on varsity, because I transferred to Tuloso Midway my freshman year for better opportunity. Even though I was ineligible to play varsity my freshman year, the transfer has been definitely worth it because, this year, I helped lead my team into playoffs undefeated in district and advance to the regional tournament with 477 kills. This was the first time our school had ever made it to the regional tournament in volleyball, unfortunately we lost to the state champions, but it was a great experience to undergo, and with this defeat I'm sure my team will come back stronger than ever next season. Along with my team's accomplishments, I was acknowledged as District 30-5A Offensive Player of the Year, All South Texas Newcomer of the Year, and made Academic All District. My club team, Corpus Christi Force, has also had it's share of success. Last year, we qualified for the Tour of Texas as well as finishing 5th in the Big South National Qualifier in the USA Division. This year we hope to have similar or better accomplishments. Previously, the team invited me to join them in the AAU National Championship at the ESPN Center in Orlando, Florida, the summer before my freshman year, and we won National Championship for the 14s.
In these past years, volleyball has taught me so much on and off the court, such as self-discipline, to never give up, always give 100% effort, and work as a team. Also, it has enhanced my character, showed me how to set goals, and learn from failure. All of these are skills I will carry with me for the rest of my life. My ultimate goal is to play at the college level.
I've not only been successful on the court, but also in school. I'm at the top 3% of my class and last year received A honor Roll. Along with my academic achievements, I'm on the board of the Tuloso Midway Rotary Club, which has taught me leadership skills, the importance of staying involved with the community, and helping people in need.
