I started playing club volleyball in 6th grade. I was not for sure if I wanted to continue playing volleyball until my 7th grade year when I played for the club “Blackhawks”. Coach Erica Humbach really taught me the true meaning of volleyball. After that year it became much for than just hitting the ball over the net. Between running different plays, hitting different shots and the tempo of the game, it becomes more intense and enjoyable. I began to develop a true passion for the game that year.
The best part of playing volleyball is when it is a tight game and there is something on the line. My adrenaline rises to another level and it makes the game much more exciting. I always want to be on the court during these occasions, because I know I will not be timid to make a mistake while I’m out there. There is a difference between getting a kill when it is 20-11, rather than 20-20. Everyone on the team gets loud along with the crowd. It brings out a completely different team on the court each time. No matter the outcome of these tight games, win or lose, matches like that are more satisfying to play, and at the end of the game there will always be something to look back on and be proud of.
