My goal within academics is to gain a fulfilling undergraduate education in order to pursue a medical degree. I now hold a 35 on the ACT and took the SAT on June 7th of 2014, scoring a 770 in Math, a 780 in Critical Reading, and a 730 in Writing. I took the PSAT in October of 2013 and received a 76 in Math, a 66 in Critical Reading, and a 77 in Writing skills; my Composite PSAT score was 219 for the 2013-2014 school year. Last past winter break I decided to pursue a National Merit Scholarship early and graduate with the 2015 class instead of the 2016 grads. On September 10, 2014, I was notified of my National Merit Finalist status in February of 2015.
Outside of the classroom, I have dreams of playing volleyball in college. At the moment, I am searching for a school that meets my academic requirements first. As much as I wish I could, I will not be able to play volleyball until I am 95. Therefore I am planning my future toward a successful and fulfilling career. To reach my dreams, I am hoping to graduate college with a major in biomedical engineering and follow in my parent's footsteps to become a doctor .
This past school season in volleyball, I was diagnosed with a L4-L5 disc in my back. I was told it would take six months before I could play in a competitive game once more. I refused to take this setback as an end to my volleyball career and was back on the court in 2 months, when my school team headed to the state tournament. Now, at the six month mark, I have fought long and hard to continue the sport I love. My struggles this past season have taught me about myself and also emphasized the importance of perserverence.
