Sara Fanger '16 Recruiting Profile

Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement. I have been playing volleyball since the fifth grade and have absolutely fallen in love with the sport. I can't fathom the idea of not continuing to play after my senior year, therefore playing at the collegiate level is a huge goal of mine. I would love the opportunity to share my college years with great teammates.

I have been playing competitive volleyball on club teams for seven years and in the last six years have been competing in beach volleyball. I have mostly been a Libero/DS throughout my years of playing, but also have had seasons of playing all the way around. I am both a vocal and "lead by example" type of leader, that takes great pride in being extremely communicative and encouraging on the court. I'm coachable and push myself on the court to reach my full potential. I tend to be the personality of the team, however, I am a HARDWORKING, passionate personality. I might dance and sing on the court, but only when appropriate!

I'm also a hard worker off the court. I work hard in the classroom to achieve a 3.77 cumulative GPA and I am involved in the Tualatin High School Concert Choir as a "Crimsonnaire", which is the top choir at my high school, consisting of 28 people. This could explain the possibility of me singing on the court! I also volunteer my time at various middle school volleyball camps and open gyms.

I ultimately want to find a college that is the right fit for me not only on the court, but also in the classroom. I am open to all options in hopes to find somewhere I can grow as a person, student, and an athlete.
