Megan Alvey '16 Recruiting Profile

I am a disciplined Libero/DS with excellent setting skills, a 3.7/4.0 GPA, and a strong desire to compete. I am able to successfully combine rigorous academic and athletic schedules because I am diligent, organized, and possess innate athletic ability. I have played competitive volleyball since I was 13 years old. I have been the starting Libero on my high school varsity team from my freshman year, and I have received All Conference Player, and Defensive Player of the Year Awards. I am the Libero for my club team. I “play up” one year for an 18’s national team, and am a team co-captain. I have learned that I am not only an aggressive team player, but also an effective leader on the court. As a defensive player, I pride myself in: my consistency in serve-receive, my ability to read the opposing team’s hitters, and in always maintaining an overview of the opposing side’s court so that I can direct our ball handling during play. I also challenge myself academically. My un-weighted GPA of 3.7/4.0, my weighted GPA of 4.32, and my class rank of 93 out of 564 have been maintained while taking 15 honors/AP classes; and I plan to take more my senior year.  I know I will be a valuable addition to a university community, and its varsity volleyball team.
