I am a 5'9 outside hitter for Davie County High School in Mocksville, North Carolina and IC Stars JO Club in Statesville, NC. I am the oldest of five children in my family and am an active Christian steward in my church and community. I am including this information here because my faith and my family are a large part of who I am. Because I am the oldest of five children, the financial responsibilities facing my parents are enormous. I am hoping that my love of the sport of volleyball, the team aspects, the individual focus and drive, and the challenge it offers will help me get into a college and relieve some of these pressures. My faith and Christian beliefs in service that guide me are also what has led me to my dream of becoming a pediatric oncologist. I currently have a 4.2 GPA and am ranked 49 out of a class of 461 and hope that my academic skills and volleyball skills will open more doors to help me pursue this dream. I am currently taking SAT preparation classes online in hopes of increasing my current SAT test scores. This is difficult for me because I have testing anxiety on these types of tests. I would rather be evaluated by being asked to complete or perform something to show my knowledge than answer a question. I do not have my dreams set on being a division I athlete at some large well known college. I am realistic and probably my toughest critic. With my height and my other key measurements (7'3 reach, 9 '3 attack jump and 9 1/2 ft block jump), I know what I am capable of doing. I have been working with a personal trainer for strength and agility to improve these measurements and I believe with my hard work ethic, high personal expectations, and drive to personally improve myself I will be an asset to any college volleyball and academic program and hope to get the chance to prove this.
