Dear Coach,
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. My name is Jacklyn Dickey and I am a motivated two sport student athlete. I play volleyball as both a defensive specialist/libero and outside hitter and participate in track, primarily as a pole vaulter. I currently hold the Warrenton Missouri High School female pole vaulting record. I enjoy track however, my passion is volleyball.
My mom passed away when I was four years old. With my dad being a single father, he found few other ways to relate to raising a daughter alone and tried to get me involved in almost every sport available to us. I tried T-ball/softball, soccer, ballet/tap dance, and gymnastics. It wasn’t until I found volleyball at the age of 10 that I found a sport that not only did I enjoy but I excelled at. Being part of a team sport like volleyball has taught me the value of hard work and staying determined in the face of adversity.
I have learned how to be a team player, get along well with others, give something my all even if I don’t feel my best, how to handle adversity and accept constructive criticism. I have learned how to handle success while being humble, the importance of working hard towards a goal, how to be resilient, how to teach and support others, and most importantly how to be coachable.
My goal is to play volleyball at the collegiate level while getting my education. I take my education seriously and challenge myself with honors and AP classes as much as possible. I carry a 3.28 GPA (3.52 weighted) and am ranked in the top 25% of my class.
I currently play at the varsity high school and high club levels. I made my high school’s JV team as a freshmen (2014-2015) and as a sophomore (2015-2016) I was promoted to varsity after the team’s star outside hitter went down with an injury. I played well and was kept on the varsity team after she came back. For my junior year (2016-2017) I made varsity outright as a DS/RS all-around player where we almost made it to the championship in districts. My club career started in 2012 with a club called 4 Rivers VBC and most recently with H2 Saint Louis where I am part of the 17 Crimson team.
I feel my growth and success as an athlete and student will continue at the collegiate level and I know I would be a valuable part of any team as I am willing to play anywhere I am needed. I hope you consider me for your team and invite you to come see me play at any time. Thanks again for reading my profile. I look forward to hearing from you.
