Carrie Jones '17 Recruiting Profile

 
My goal is to play for a college that will help me be the best person, student and athlete that I can be. I want to use volleyball to help shape me into the person I aspire to be. I have a strong work ethic and always give my all in my classes and on the volleyball court. My dedication to the game and my course work make me an ideal candidate for your team. After being injured at a young age in competitive swimming, I developed the mentality that every time I step out onto the court it could be my last. So I give it my all, am proud of my accomplishments and proud of the game I played. 
In the past 8 years, I have played all positions when asked to step up. This was a challenge that I gladly accepted, even knowing that playing front row would be difficult due to my height. All the positions I have played have helped shape my character and my skills as a player. I have worked hard to become a good defensive specialist and have recently been asked to become a setter. In 2013, I made the USA Volleyball High Performance Skills Program as an outside hitter. I tried again in 2014, and did not make any level at either outside hitter or libero. I was determined to work hard and keep trying. In 2015, I made the High Performance A3 program as a libero. Now, my high school coach has asked me to change to setter and be ready to be the Varsity setter next year. Currently I am captain of the Junior Varsity Team and am working to be the setter that she expects me to be. I am also sitting on the Varsity team and ready to go in as a defensive player and server whenever she calls on me.
I focus on exceeding in school, and making sure to keep my grades up because I know my expectations from all my coaches, parents, and myself.  I aspire to not only be an encouraging athlete but a teammate that pushes everyone to make themselves better on and off the court. I expect my teammates and classmates to have the same expectations of me.
I would be a great addition to your team because I am a hard worker, I give everything my all, and I am a very coachable player.
