Personal Statement
Dear Coaches, I don't know how to say this, other than I am overwhelmed by the interest in me out there.Thank you so much for your belief in me and my skills! As I have entered my Senior year in high school, I am finding that my goals in life are outweighing my need to play Volleyball in college.Don't get me wrong, I will always play and hope to coach for the St Charles Stars. Keep an eye on the kids coming out of this club.My career choice however is to be a Psychologist and I want to concentrate on getting that done, in the shortest time possible, and with the best grades possible. The University of Missouri - St. Louis has been recommended to me by a team mates dad and his associates, their numbers are very impressive.I have been accepted to the University of Missouri - St. Louis and have made this my choice for college.Again, I can't thank you enough for your support, but I also want you to be able to move forward in your recruiting so I wanted to get back with you asap,Thank you and Good Luck in your seasons!!Sincerely,Jessica Poelker

My friends have always come to me for help with their issues and I find that I really enjoy helping them and others, this professional career idea has only continued to get stronger for me as I began taking some of the classes here in my junior year. My prior coaches had always believed we should be good in all of the skills needed to play volleyball. As I moved to play with the 18's this season, they were definitely right. It is a definite advantage for a team to have players skilled in all the areas of defense and offense during Regionals the 1st day I had to play all around because we only had 6...I got a Block!!! We stayed in Gold and the next day with 8 till our Middle got taken out on an Ankle injury, we placed 3rd in Gold. Moving to the Libero's position in high school I found that the Libero's position is consistent with my experience as a setter, and required all of the same skills (Speed, Leadership, Consistency, Accuracy, Teamwork) to aid the court to a victory. What I have discovered about myself this season, is that I seem to feed off a good challenge. So if you are looking for a defensive player who will work hard to meet your expectations on the court? That will be me. Our team this year took some player losses, but we got stronger with each one and learned about ourselves that we can adjust to any challenge that comes our way. It has been a fun season and the highest ranked team I have had the pleasure of playing on at 12th in the region. I am aware that the college game is much faster and balls will be hit much harder. I intend to play 18’s again next year with the St. Charles Stars-Gateway Region, in an effort to have my game ready for the college level by 2015. You can see the results of our 2014 Club Schedule located here, we still have the AAU Nationals to attend June 17-20: http://nocofoshojrvbc.tripod.com/stcharlesstarsvbcts/id25.html I have been the starting varsity libero at Ritenour High School for my freshman, sophomore and Junior years. I was voted Best Defensive Player of the Year and 2nd Team All-Conference my freshman and sophomore years as well. I have been fortunate to break 2 of Ritenour’s Career Records as a sophomore in Digs and Serve Receive. I received Academic All-State and All Conference, our schools- Golden “R” Award (academic), as well in 2011 and 2012.Individual Awards: 2013Honorable Mention All-Conference, Captain, 7:59 Mile, #32 HS Sports Top 50 Dig Rankings, #1 in Career Serve Receive w/ 919, Voted Best Defensive Player 3rd year running. Hold the following Career Records as well: #7 in Games Played -166, #10 in Service Points -214, #10 in Serve Receive % -83. #9 Dig %- 76. #2 in Digs -773. Team Awards: 2013Conference 2nd Place, 2nd Place in Hazelwood West Tournament I really love volleyball and hope one of you see's what you need in me. I am sure I can adjust to the needs of the team, and my college preferences really are open right now. I graduate in May of 2015.I do have a Facebook site where you can follow my Volleyball years.https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jessica-Poelker-LiberoSetter/136739779669770https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUx8KUVDqF0V63WGdicGJVQhttp://www.edline.net/pages/Ritenour_High_School/Classes/Ritenour_Girls_Volleyball/http://www.stcstars.com/ I hope everyone has great season's!Good Luck,Jessica
