Hi! I'm Abby Allgeyer and I am currently a junior at Parkway West High School in Ballwin, Missouri. I've been playing volleyball since third grade and it has been my passion ever since. I have been a three-sport varsity athlete since freshmen year, playing volleyball, basketball, and running track and I plan on continuing that streak until I graduate. I have played on the varsity level for every season in every sport since my freshmen year so I am completely dedicated to athletics. I have grown up as a competitive athlete and nothing motivates me more than someone telling me that I can't do something.
I am involved in activities at my school, outside of athletics also. I was nominated by my volleyball coach to exclusively join Drug-Free Council, which is an organization that promotes a drug-free campus and hosts fundraisers every year for a variety of charities. I am also on Captain's Council, which is a club designed to advertise sportsmanship and aids Drug-Free Council in fundraising. Along with these clubs, I have also been chosen to be a Peer Teacher, which is a position that teaches the importance of being drug and alcohol-free to not only the peers in our own high school, but to middle schoolers as well. Completely outside of West High, I am thoroughly involved in my parish's Life Teen youth group and being an upperclassmen, I am considered one of the leaders that helps encourage a positive lifestyle to my peers and also to those younger than me. Through this youth group, I have gone on a mission trip to Nicaragua, where we built a water system to towns and villages to help the residents obtain safe and sanitary water in order to live. That trip has helped open my eyes to the world and has helped me realize how blessed I am to live in a country where there are so many opportunities to thrive, whereas in countries like Nicaragua, those people don't have the same opportunities.
Going to Parkway West, I am overwhelmed by the amount of opportunities that are involved in my academics. Deriving from my competitive nature in my athletics, I love to challenge myself by taking honors and Advanced Placement courses. I currently take Honors English, AP Government, and AP United States History. However, my senior year I plan to take many AP or Honors classes involving science, along with advanced core classes such as English and History because I plan to major in physical therapy. From all of the above, I consider myself a very well-rounded student, athlete, and person all together.
