From a young age athletics have been a huge part of my life, it has helped me to grow not only as an athlete but as a person. At the age of 8 my parents got me into competitive swimming and I have continued to swim ever since . Although I started swimming at a young age I was introduced to volleyball when I was 11 at a local clinic. During that clinic I learned the most valuable part of that game which is team work, and I have taken that with me to every game that I play in. I have been commended throughout my life on my team skills on the court and in the classroom, and I continue to improve my team skills further each day.
My freshman year of high school I was selected for the junior varsity team along with floating to the varsity for select opportunities. During the season I started for the junior varsity team as a setter and received the MVP for the year along with the setter award. My sophomore year I was selected for the Varsity team as the starting setter, my team won the Southern Worcester County division and made it to the second round of districts. At the end of the season I had the most service points for my team, the most aces for my team along with the most amount of assists. I received the award for the most improved player along with being named the Southern Worcester counter second team all star. Along with playing in high school, I also play for the Eastern Connecticut Volleyball Club. On ECVC I am the starting setter for my team. We travel around New England and participate in tournaments. We have placed high in many of the tournaments along with winning tournaments. I try to occupy myself with volleyball as much as possible. During the off season, I participate on the Varsity Swimming team which I have been to Sectionals and States for both my freshman and sophomore year. I also play on the junior varsity lacrosse team to keep myself in competitive shape.
In the classroom, I am a hard working and dedicated student. I currently have a 3.2 GPA and work to improve it everyday. I have been on the honor roll and am involved in student council as a student representative. In school my passion is for the sciences. I have taken Honors Biology, Chemistry and Physics and excelled in these courses. I will be taking these courses at the AP level come my Junior and Senior year. In college I hope to study and become a nurse or a physician. My interest in the medical field led me to volunteerr at Harrington Hospital a hospital near to the town I live in. At the hospital I volunteer in the transport and the gift shop. Working in such a life changing atmosphere is inspiring and one of the reasons why I am interested in nursing or becoming a physician.
The best part about the game for me is how competitive it is.I love the way it feels to walk onto the court before every match and feel the energy from my teammates and see the determination in their eyes to win. I love when I set a ball and know right when it leaves my finger tips that my teammate is going to get a great hit out of it. One of the best parts of a team sport is trusting your team mates and becoming close with them. I have been commended by many of my coaches about how approachable and friendly I am, and how people tend to gravitate toward me. I utilize these skills as a setter to be a leader on the court. The privilege of being able to compete at a collegiate level is something I have always dreamed of. If I have the privilege of being selected to a team I hope to be able to bring a new asset to the them, and to find a team that welcomes me and that expands my knowledge of the game and helps me grow as a player to my greatest potential.
