Being the youngest is always intimidating. I started off like every other volleyball player in my grade, except I was playing with an older group of girls. Due to pre-kindergarten and my August birthday, I was expected to play up a year in order to compete at a qualifying level. As the runt of the litter, you're not expected to improve much, but this is exactly what pushed me to overcome the odds. Putting in the extra practice at home and in the gym ultimately helped me become a 4 year varsity starter. In my last four years, we have consecutively made it to the the state tournament three times, capturing 3rd in 2014. Being exposed to a higher level of competition at a younger age has pushed me to improve in many ways as I aim to continue my volleyball career by competing at the next level.
I strive to achieve as much success in the classroom as I do in the gym which has led me to accomplish acceptance into the National Honor Society and be enter my third year as Vice President for the class of 2017. I believe that the "student" part of "student-athlete" is just as important as the "athlete" part, and I am looking for a college that provides just as good of an educational experience as it does a great athletic program, that I would be proud to be a member of.
