Sydney McLaren '18 Recruiting Profile

I am Sydney McLaren, currently a Junior at St Albert Catholic High School in Council Bluffs, IA. I started my Varsity volleyball career at Griswold High School, but have since moved and transferred schools.  I am very active and I consider myself a quiet leader.  I take pride in being respectful, coachable, dedicated, and hard working in every aspect of my life.  I am a three sport athlete and enjoy all of them.  However, as soon as I stepped on the volleyball court in fourth grade with my mom as my coach, I fell in love with the game.  Since then, I have been truly committed to pursuing my volleyball career at the collegiate level one day.  I love the family atmosphere of athletics, being part of a team working towards a common goal. 

I am self-motivated and take pride in working hard at everything I participate in. I earn excellent grades and I am an active member in my school and community.  I will continue to work hard in school and in every sport I play, and strive to graduate at the top of my class and improve upon my skills, whether it be on the volleyball or basketball court, on the track, or on the softball field. 

As I look towards my future, I aspire to play college volleyball and earn a degree in exercise science/kinesiology, working towards a physical therapy program.  I can't imagine my life without athletics and I always want to stay involved.  Physical therapy and sports medicine would be the perfect fit to make a difference and help others.
