Personal Statement
For as long as I can remember my dream has been to go to college in the USA and I have been working towards this goal by playing sport to the best of my ability. I have not only played volleyball but have also been actively involved in my school coaching and mentoring younger players. Last year I was selected to play for both U17 and U19 NZ teams touring to the Philippines, Taipei and Thailand and was named the Blocker of the Tournament for my U19 tour to the Philippines. I also play for New Zealands top womens club team called Raiders who came first at the NZ club nationals in 2014 and was also named captain of my school team who played in division 1 at our recent national tournament. While volleyball has been a big focus in my life, my school work has always been a top priority to maintain a high average. I have passed my last 2 years of exams with a mark of Merit which equates to a B average. I have always been able to juggle my commitment to completing my school work on time with the intense amount of training and playing of volleyball by planning and submitting work when required. At college I am wanting to gain experience in all parts of my life and want to fully immerse myself in the American culture and enjoy myself whilst doing it. I believe it is important to enjoy my time in the USA and to make sure I give 100% in everything I participate in.
