Sara Ke'alohilani Mie Watanabe '14 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sara Ke'alohilani Mie Watanabe.  I am a 18 year old Senior at 'Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii.  I will graduate in the year 2014.  I have been playing competitive sports since I was 5 years old (baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, and volleyball).  Of these sports, volleyball is my favorite.  I also enjoy singing, hanging out with my friends, and going to the beach.  My newest sport of interest is Sand Volleyball.  I have participated in clinics and sand tournaments in Hawaii.  I have been a member of 'Iolani's Varsity for four years as an Outside Hitter/Libero.  My goal is to beat the 5 time State Champions and win the State Title before I graduate.  For 3 years, I have participated in an athletic leadership program.  The advisor / coach introduced us to principles of sports psychology and leadership.  I am able to apply what I've learned to my own athletic experience as well as on the court to support my teammates.  I have competed in the USAV juniors program for 7 years.  Being selected to train at the Olympic Training Center with the USA High Performance Program was a highlight of my early years (2008).  Travelling with the Aloha Region High Performance Team in the Summer of 2008 and 2009 was also memorable.   I am a member of the 'Imi 'Ike Volleyball Club, specifically, on the 18s team as a Libero/Defensive Specialist... occasionally I get to hit.   Our Club Director and Coaches are the University of Hawaii Assistant Coaches and former players.  Being in this high level environment for 7 years has motivated me to push myself.  My goal is to attend a well respected college and compete at the highest level, Division 1.   I haven't decided yet on a career.  I have many interests.  I hope to be a Nurse in a pediatric unit, or a Marine Biologist - working with sea animals, or possibly a Physical Therapist like my Dad.
