Emily Herring '17 Recruiting Profile

As I head into my senior year, I'm excited about the potential to continue playing on the collegiate level. My goal is to find a college that not only offers a stellar volleyball program, but one that has high regards for academic excellence. Excellence comes from being challenged by those around you.  This is true both on and off the court. 

On the court, I play with high-level players that motivate me to become better at each practice and game. This has allowed me to excel at both Outside and Middle positions where I have become adept at reading the court. My teammates' excellence has not only pushed me as a front row player, but it has also motivated me to become a strong server and increase my skills as a back row player.  I am a player that has the ability to play wherever my team needs me to be. 

Off the court, I am challenged by my classmates in my AP and honors classes. I surround myself with goal-oriented people who take on challenges and plan for their future. Personally, I plan on studying business (international business, if offered) and minoring in Spanish. 

What makes me unique is when I'm not on a volleyball court, you will find me performing on stage either as a lead or in the ensemble for our school musicals. I play the roles that are necessary to make the best performances for our school. Having such diverse extra-curricular activities has granted me the opportunity to work with people with different interests and life goals. I feel that when we open ourselves up to opportunities, we are able to learn from everyone we meet. That makes for a well-rounded individual who can work with anyone in life.
