My name is Catia Sleet and I am only interested in three things; learning, winning, and helping. Ever since I was little, I enjoyed learning and attending school. I wanted to expand my knowledge and share it with anyone that listened. I transferred that desire to the volleyball court. Improving my volleyball IQ became my biggest goal. I wanted to be the player that knew the game and knew how to win.
Winning is my second interest. I am extremely competitive. Yes, volleyball is a fun game, but I enjoy playing in order to accomplish something. However, winning isn't always a W on your record. Winning is getting better, working harder, and never giving up. Even if my team doesn't beat the opposing team, if we left it all on the court (our energy, passion, and fight), I consider it a win.
Finally, I want to help people. Whether it's on the court, in the classroom, or in real life. I take pride in pushing the people I care about. At school, I tutor my classmates weekly. On the court, I do everything in my power to help a teammate gain confidence or bring out the best in them. Additionally, I aim to heal people. My ultimate life goal is to become a doctor that helps people regain either their mind, body or spirit.
I am not the strongest, fastest, or toughest player out there. I am not God's gift to volleyball and I am not going to pretend that I am. However, college volleyball is a commitment that I am willing to make. I love playing the game and being on a team... it allows me to meet all my goals. I constantly learn from successes and mistakes, I work hard for every point (win or lose), and I help my teammates understand that there is a reason that they are on the court.
In the end, it's not about volleyball. It's about becoming a good person. College volleyball is a code name for an activity that brings people together and teaches them about life. Please sign me up.
