Jocelyn Garcia '17 Recruiting Profile

I consider myself coach-able, responsible, determined, dedicated, competitive, and with solid work ethics. I am a team player yet also a leader and currently team captain of my school’s varsity volleyball team.  As a student athlete, I understand that there is always an opportunity to learn and grow.  

I have been playing volleyball since I was introduced to the sport in middle school.  I began to receive private lessons at a local park, continued playing for school team and then introduced to club volleyball at the age of 13.  I have played competitively since middle school as I was the only middle school student volleyball player to have been chosen to play in high school team.  I have been playing at varsity team ever since.

During my Sophomore year, I was selected to First Team All- Dade Volleyball as middle blocker.  I also received high honorable mention in the 2014 prepvolleyball.com Soph 79 list as follows; “The Eagles went 22-6 in 2014 and reached the 8A regional quarterfinals.  Garcia was the star, recording 231 kill and 58 blocks.”

I have played on National teams during club season and looking forward to playing this upcoming year in 18th National Team. My team qualified to play at the Junior National Championships my 15th and 16th club year. I was selected as member of Florida High Performance All-Star Team and won gold medal in Des Moines, Iowa.  Most recently, I have received invitation to be included in the AVCA Phenom List.

I am humbled for an opportunity to play volleyball at the next level and at the same time acquire an excellent education. I am leaning towards an interest in healthcare yet also interested in business/accounting.  I have maintained my GPA and continue to be top 10% of my class.

This sport has taken a very important role in my life and I hope to continue pursuing what I love.  I work hard to achieve my goals both on and off the court.  You will not be disappointed to consider me to be part of your college team.
