My name is Cydnee Morgan, and I am currently a Senior at Centaurus high school. As a freshman, I transferred schools half way through the first semester to a school much better suited my family and I. Because of my transfer and participation in the previous school's athletics, I was ineligible to play for Centaurus' varsity team my sophomore year which I was originally offered a spot onto, until half way through the season. As soon as the half way mark hit I swung up to varsity and began filling in where I was needed, in whatever position was needed, but at the request of my previous JV coach I continued to play with JV and kept them as my primary team, where I held a starting position playing all the way around. After school season I played for Juggernaut Volleyball Club on their 16 Gold team. My junior year school season I was offered a spot on Varsity where I played as an outside all the way around, and at the end of the season I began to libero. My last club season I played for Ballistic 17 White and at the beginning the season was rocky, but after that we bonded as a team and got better as a whole, and we competed at our highest level. For my last season of club volleyball, I have committed to High Impact and I will be playing for the 18 black team.
Volleyball has brought so much to my life and taught me so many lessons. It has helped me and school and through it I have met some of my best friends. My teams, both school and club, have changed my life. They have helped me work better with others and problem solve. I have learned discipline and restraint as well as helping me make decisions. I have learned so much responsibility and dedication that I apply to everyday life. I maintain a 4.0 unweighted GPA and my cumulative 4.26. I keep myself challenged with advanced courses which I love, but I also make sure not to overwork myself with too much homework. I also like to participate in extracurricular activities in and out of school. I am a part of my school's Student Council which I absolutely love, and I have earned an executive position both my junior and senior year! And I am an active participant in my school's 360 web program where I am a senior commissioner, and National Honor Society. I also like to volunteer outside of school helping to coach younger club volleyball teams at practice and in tournaments as well as some local middle school teams when they're in season. I have also helped in the past with Habitat for Humanity fixing up businesses and houses still left damaged from the 2014 flood, as well as building new housing around my community. As for personal endeavors outside of school, the subject matter is very limited to an occasional meet up with friends and our local competitive bowling league and high school league. I did qualify for state my sophomore year which was very fun, but my heart still remains with volleyball.
After high school, I want to study Pre-Med, specifically Genetics. I have little to no preferences about schools as long as they can get me to where I want to go. Although it has been a dream of mine to play at a PAC 12 school or division 1 school, I can't limit myself, and I do realize there are many great schools that do not fall under either title. As far as scholarships go, they are rather important to me seeing as my older sister will have just began as a freshman in college by the time I will be signing a letter of intent. On any volleyball team I commit to I know that as a freshman my playing time may be limited, although I will constantly be trying for a starting to position I know that my best, most helpful spot on a team just may be cheering on the bench. If I am not the most qualified person to help me team, I am content to cheer on the sidelines until I work my way to where they are. Whatever team I play on I know that I will work my hardest and do the very best that I can for my team.
