I am a very determined, well rounded person. For all of high school, I have managed to successfully balance varsity volleyball, club volleyball, the International Baccalaureate Program (the most rigorus academc program available in the U.S.), and working as a crew leader at my job. On the court I am a very beneficial player, capable of playing any position on the court. I have the most experience playing setter, followed by defensive and right side hitter. I read the court well, knowing the options on my side of the court and seeing the opportunities on the opposing side. As a setter, I learn the types of sets that are suitable for each hitter, optimizing their skill and ability. Since Sophomore, year I've started on Varsity as a setter, running a 5-1 offense. Junior and senior year I was voted a captain, won academic all state first team, and all conference league honorable mention. Senior year I also won peak performer honorable mention, (a newspaper award for high school athletes of all fall sports) for averaging 27 assists, 21 digs, and 2 aces in 3 matches. At the end of the season I was also awarded with the MVP award. The experience I get from playing club volleyball is extremely beneficial. I started freshman year and played through senior year. The multiple teams I have been a part of has allowed me to develop into a more diverse, skillful player. Playing against various teams has widened my perspective and matured my game. As a captain, I am strongest leading on the court in both games and during practice. I get along well with all the girls, making it easier to fill a leadership position. Competition is very important to me and comes through in my attitude. For the academic aspect of college, I want the best experience possible. Coming from the International Baccalaureate program, I love a challenging education and can balance a heavy work load, volleyball, and a job.
Now, along with my college playing experience and coaching experience, I have gained an even deeper understanding of game strategy and therefore have a different perspective and an edge to my playing skill. I am a very determined person, and will work extremely hard to benefit and contribute to a team.
