"Though she be but little, she is fierce." -Shakespeare
Hi, my name is Kayton Coffee. I have played volleyball since the sixth grade when I missed soccer sign ups. In hindsight I realize this happened for a reason. God was steering me in a new direction.
Like most love stories it was love at first spike...wait, isn't that how it goes? Through hard work I made the eighth grade volleyball team in BOTH seventh and eighth grade where I continued to grow as a player and as a student. In seventh grade I made the Ozark Juniors 13-1's and the next year I played on Club Net 14-1's. In eighth grade I was captain and voted MVP by my teammates. In ninth grade I was also captain and I was voted Offensive Specialist by my team. Ninth grade year I made the Ozark Juniors 15-1's.
Tenth grade is the biggest jump (so to speak) I have had in my volleyball career. As a sophomore I played up on varsity the entire season where we took home second at the 2013 7A State Tournament and first in our conference. For club season, I played on the Ozark Juniors 16-1's and we won our regional qualifier, allowing us to advance to the 2014 Girls Junior Nationals.
This past year, I played on BHS Varsity when we won Conference undefeated and won the 2014 7A State Championship. I am also currently on the Ozark Juniors 17-1's.
Volleyball has taught me many things from the importance to staying on top of your school work to what it means to be a great teammate. To me, this is the best sport ever, because it is a sport where you must place complete dependence and trust in your team to do their job, and they trust you to do yours.
My biggest priority other than volleyball is my academics. I hate bragging about my school achievements but how else would you know about them if I didn't... I take difficult Pre-AP and AP classes along with summer school courses. I have also taken four online courses through BYU and NWACC. You may think, why would any teen voluntarily do this? That's easy: in order to balance my electives. For the past two years I was a member of the BHS orchestra and choir. I also took two years of French as a foreign language. Might I add that I have received all A's in every one.
Character wise I have been told I am very dependable and driven. I hold others and myself to a very high standard, and I always try to work my absolute hardest at everything I do.
