I began playing volleyball in 7th grade, as most people do. I had no idea what it was or how to play, it was completely new to me. We had 2 teams in 7th grade, an A and B team, and I was put on the A team. I still had no clue what I was doing. But as the season progressed and I was beginning to understand the basics, I realized "hey , I'm actually pretty good at this". I ran track when I was in 2nd grade for a club in North Little Rock, which built my speed and stamina. I played soccer from 5th grade to 9th grade, which helped build my reaction time. In 9th grade I suffered from a partial ACL tear in my left knee, which caused me to sit out for the majority of the season and to not play soccer. I strongly believe everything happens for a reason, and because of my ACL tear I learned that volleyball was what I wanted to do. It was what I wanted to play until my body says no. Therefore, I made my decision of playing in college. Also, by having my injury, it made me want to push myself harder than I ever have before. As a result, in 10th grade I was the only sophomore that played in varsity games and JV. My junior year, I played over two seniors and I always worked for it. I am not the best, but I know that I work every time I hit the court. I am not one to expect to play, I earn to play. I go into overdrive and never stop hustling for my spot; and I never will.
Volleyball is everything to me. Its more than the winning, the traveling, etc. Its my life. Volleyball has been there for me through countless struggles in my life. When I step onto the court, all my problems and worries go away and all I think about is volleyball. It is the one thing that I know I have to continue doing in college, because its my passion, its my life.
