Hello my name is Kayla Matthews. I live in Phoenix, AZ with my family that consists of my parents and one brother (5) and one sister (13). My parents are Sara Matthews who is a high school PE teacher and volleyball and softball coach and Gabriel Matthews who works for Nestle and coaches basketball. I enjoy spending time with my family. We are usually very busy with sports or dance (my sister) or playing with my little brother.
I of course love playing volleyball. It has been my passion for many years. I enjoy the competition and being around my teammates. I have played with East Valley Juniors for going on five seasons. The coaches are amazing and again I love the level in which we learn and play. I consider myself to be a little shy when it comes to my personality but I consider myself to be one of the hardest working and most reliable players on my team. My parents have always taught me to give 100% of my ability. I do my best to live up to that daily.
I am a sophomore at Sunnyslope High School. I actually started school when I was four so I am one of the youngest kids in my class as I just turned 15. My favorite subjects are math and science but I also really like Spanish. I hope to one day be a physical therapist or work in sports medicine.
In my spare time I love shopping and hanging out with my friends.
My volleyball journey began when I was nine, and I have loved it ever since. I cannot wait to learn and play at the next level.
