“Whatever It Takes” and “Do the right thing, even when no one is watching” are two of my favorite statements. These two quotes summarize the type of person I inspire to be each and every day. Academically, I have always been a determined and studious individual. “Straight A” report cards are what I strive for and anything below a “B” is definitely unacceptable in my book. School has never been easy, however, I continuously challenge myself with honor and AP classes and have been able to maintain my GPA goals through hard work and determination. Should I need to stay after school, meet with a tutor on the weekends, or forego a movie with friends, I will do “whatever it takes” to achieve my academic goals.
In addition to my required extra efforts in school, I was not a “born athlete.” From an early age, my parents enforced their rule, “play at least one sport….we do not care what you choose, but you must participate in at least one.” After trying my skills at soccer and basketball, I finally found my niche at age 10. From the moment I walked onto the court, I was enthralled with the sport of volleyball. At that point, the challenge I faced was to turn this non-athletic body into one of power and skill. After years of training at every opportunity, reminding myself to continue doing “whatever it takes,” and fueling my body correctly, I have the strength and endurance to match those blessed individuals who were born to compete.
Marketing is a field that intrigues me and it is one that requires individuals who are creative, dynamic, competitive with a natural ability to lead others; all of which I recognize in myself. My first official leadership position was the role of 8th grade class President. I didn’t want to just be a member of student council, but wanted to lead the organization and make a difference in my school. This leadership role has continued into high school where I was appointed Freshman class President, Sophomore Senator, Junior Vice President, and captain of the Varsity Volleyball team. This year, I became involved in the Future Business Leaders of America and am a member of the National Honor Society. I hold high expectations for myself and continuously strive to achieve the highest levels of success in every part of my life.
Becoming a student and playing volleyball while completing my marketing degree are a both part of my collegiate goals. I greatly appreciate your time and consideration of my athletic and academic abilities. Please let me know if you are interested or if I may provide you with additional information.
