I would love to have the opportunity to participate in Track and Field at the collegiate level. There is nothing I love more than track. I have been running since I was nine years old, and ever since it has been my favorite sport. My junior year I tore my ACL in a powder-puff football game. I had surgery to reconstruct my ACL, and it was not likely I would return for my 2013 season. For the first two months of the 2013 season, my coach made my his assistant because I could not participate due to my injury. I helped coach the freshmen, teaching them technique and form, and how to use the blocks properly. Thankfully, after seven months of intense physical therapy, I was able to return for my first race at our outdoor conference championships. I won the 100 meter dash. My knee still had a lot of healing to do, but I was beginning to feel like myself again. Our 4x100 meter relay team made it to our state meet in Wisconsin, we won our race and received a new state record. Even with my injury I was able to keep my position as anchor for that relay. That is my favorite race of my career so far. Winning at state made all my hard work from the previous seven months worth it, and the state record was just icing on the cake. My injury caused my plans for the 2013 season to change, but it taught me that if I put my mind to something and work hard, nothing is impossible for me. My knee continues to get better everyday, and I am looking forward to what I will be able to accomplish in the 2014 season.
