Hi, I'm Brooke and I have aspirations to run track in college! I didn't start running seriously until my Freshman year. I always knew I was fast as I have played highly competitive soccer for 10 years and could beat anyone to the ball. I decided to try track in 8th grade and broke the school record in the 400m! I am currently a 16 year old junior at Eastlake High School. I know I can compete and score points at the collegiate level. I have a wide range of running distances. I was on the 4x100 meter relay in 2015 which placed 13th at the 4A Washington State Championships. I have the Freshmen school record for the 200m, 400m and 800m. I am ranked 2nd all-time in the 800m at my high school with a PR of 2:12:476, and just behind Jessica Pixler-Tebo who made the finals at the Olympic Trials in 2016. I also run on the Cross Country team and placed 20th in the state in 2015 and 25th in 2016. I joined a club track team for the first time this winter and am now running a few indoor meets. I just ran the 600m at the UW Preview and posted a time of 1:34.46 (currently 5th in the Nation). Something that you will notice about me when I race is that I have the mental toughness to get through the most stressful situations. The years of playing soccer gave me the toughness and aggressiveness that helps me in track. I also played competitive tennis tournaments for several years which really tests your mental fortitude.
I have a 4.0 at Eastlake and take a lot of pride in my academics. I have taken several Honors and AP courses. I am currently interested in Science and Art as studies in college. I know that is a non-traditional combination, but I really enjoy both!
When not running, I spend time doing community service with a few organizations including Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery and Washington Trails Association. I really like spending time in the outdoors!
I am really excited about running track in college. I think it will be a great experience to be a student athlete. Both of my parents were student athletes in college and really found it fulfilling.
Sincerely,
Brooke Manson
