I want to compete at the college level in discus, shot put and possibly javlin. I want to graduate with a degree in health science. The careers that interest me are physical therapy, occupational therapy and dietician/nutritionist. I also want to be a personal trainer. Physical fitness is very important to me, as it is all athletes. I want to carry that forward into the community as it will always be a part of my life. Last year I volunteered at the Special Junior Olympics held at JBLM and had a great time with the athletes.
When I was in 8th grade I competed in the 2010 (Seattle) CYO Pentatholon event. At that time I ran the 400m (1:06) had a long jump of 14' 2" and a shot put of 27' 1" and was first in that event overall by a couple of feet. I had never thrown a shot put and I fell in love with throwing. I was awarded 2nd place in the Pentatholon.
That summer I met Coach Keith Eager. He started teaching me to throw the discus and worked on my shot put form. Freshman year I lettered and competed in the SPSL competition. This past year as a sophomore I improved my shot put 3 more feet and my discus throw 20' 4" with a throw of 118' 9" at USATF Region 13! I also threw javelin for the first time and my PR was 87' 7" and went to State for discus and finished 9th with a 114' 3". My marks are on Athletic.net.
My elementary school (St. Anthony School, Renton, WA) awards three scholarships to 7th grade students. I received one of those scholarships for $500 in 7th grade to use for tuition in my 8th grade year. It was awarded to me because of my work ethic. I have dyspraxia which is a speech and language delay. I have worked very hard to get the success I have in academics as well as in sports. My current GPA is 3.7. Last semester I took the University of Washington class, College Information Technology. It is one of the U of W classes offered in Tahoma Senior High School using the U of W syllabus. I received an A- in that class and now have NCAA college credit. With my current plan of classes I will have all required classes for NCAA by graduation.
