~~My love for Cross Country started as an ultimatum from my parents; either go to work or participate in a sport. Naturally, I chose sports. I chose Cross Country because I believe it would be both challenging and rewarding. After my first practice I became hooked, I love to running outdoors through the trails surrounded by nature and all it had to offer. Cross Country became a good fit for me because it combined my love of the outdoors and nature with the challenge of accomplishing personal goals.
I started Track as a way to keep in shape for Cross Country. It was a different, however nothing can replace the thrill of close quarter competition. The sounds of the fans constantly cheering you on and the pace of the competition really gets the blood pumping, and this is when I concluded running is more than a sport it is a passion.
Track and Cross Country has helped me develop into a leader. I enjoy encouraging our Junior Varsity teammates to give it all they got. I try to be a positive role model and lead by example. I always make a point to cheer them on; during their races and the satisfaction I feel when they achieve a PR. Nothing is more satisfying than knowing how you helped them accomplish their goals.
My future goals are to continue my running career in college and gain a degree in Graphic Design. The determination and focus I learned from sports will help me succeed in college and life. My leadership skills will be an asset for others on my team and for my advancement in my future career.
