My name is Saida Barnes, and I am currently a junior at Brentsville District high school. I have been running track since 6th grade. I started running track because my Mom had run track in high school and college. I have always looked up to my Mom and wanted to be like her. I also run the 200M and do long jump, for this reason. This year I am planning on running the 500M to better my 400M. I currently run the 55M, 100M, 200M, 300M, 400M, the 4x100M, 4x200, the 4x400 and I do long jump.
I am a very goal-oriented runner. I will set goals for myself and then work as hard as I can to achieve those goals. Not only am I continuously working on bettering myself and my times, but I am always there for my team and push them to do their best. One school I became interested in is, Arkansas University because I heard they have an amazing track program although, I do want to try to stay on the East coast. The degree I have always wanted to study is Law.
I love to run because I want to be like my Mom one day and also I just enjoy the whole experience of running against people, and what makes it all that worth it, is when I win. I plan on making it to the Olympics and hopefully one-day winning gold. In the end, this is what I want to do in life. I don't want this to just be a college thing. The Olympics is a real goal to me, and I am hoping that you can see it too.
