I decided I wanted to run track in college in 8th grade, but it took me a while to get there. When I was in 7th grade, I was a full-time competitive swimmer and I had been since I was 7. The problem was swimming had grown boring, so I decided to join cross-country. I succeeded in it. Instead of coming sixth or seventh in swimming, I was coming second and third in cross-country, so when the track season came around I took off! I broke a district record that had been standing for over 10 years and my priorities changed to track. I still swim, but it is limited to my high school. I along with three other fantastic girls, scored the first ever points at a state meet in our school’s 65 years history!
But back to track…
My best experience and training has been with the San Antonio Heat, a summer track program I have had the honor of running with for 2 seasons and 2 AAU National Championships, medaling in one. Running has been a life-changing experience for me, I have met amazing people, been to awesome places, and have had some truly superb experiences. I was lucky though, I could still be living in my birth country, England, which is fabulous, but doesn’t have the opportunities the U.S has given to me. I moved from England to Portland, Oregon when I was 3. When I was 12, I moved to San Antonio, Texas. Here, I flourish in academics and track. I hold a 4.0 GPA, am in 4 P.A.P classes, and am in the top ten percent of my class. I love the ability running gives me, I push away from academic stress, and I am continuously striding towards my own personal goals. I want to run in college because I want to test myself against the best and find out how good I really am.
