I have loved running as long as I can remember. This passion is what drives me to train hard as well as why I would like to compete at the collegiate level. I got my first taste of the track in the fourth grade where I competed in the 200m. That was my first win and I wanted more! Through running, I have learned that I am strong-willed, competitive, and an extremely hard-worker. When it seems everyone is complaining about the heat (it is Texas after all) or how hard the training is that day, I buckle down and get serious. My coaches have always been complementary on how I approach each workout. This passion along with my firm belief that I can be the best at what I do, is what will set me apart.
I have trained and competed with an AAU Club the past 3 years and have continued to get stronger every season. I just started to compete in the long jump in 2013 and ended the season with a 5th place medal at the AAU Junior Olympics in Detroit, Michigan. I am now at the start of my Freshman Track Season at MacArthur High School, where I will compete at the Varsity level. I will be competing in the Long Jump, 400m, and 4x400m. I love the ability to compete and show off my individual skill but also work very well as part of a team. This is reflected through my success playing Varsity Soccer at MacArthur as well as being a part of the MacArthur Orchestra. At the collegiate level, I will be able to bring this team first mentality to the track which will help the success of the team and the school.
Academically, I have always been an over-achiever. Starting with the Superintendent's Award in 5th grade, my success on the ACT in 7th grade, to my 106 average as a freshman. My dedication to academics will directly affect my success on and off the track as I move through high school and on to college. This is another reason that I stand apart from the rest. Not only will I be successful in the classroom, but I will bring the importance of Academics to the rest of the team. It is all about passion, in everything I do. Passion on the track, on the field, in the classroom, and spreading that passion to everyone around me.
