My name is Ashley Meyer and I will be a part of the Texas Online Preparatory School graduating class of 2018. TOPS is a college-prep magnet school that will allow me to challenge myself academically my senior year with their rigorous academic program that I cannot get at my nearby high school.
Currently, my passion along with my continued pursuit of academic excellence is to compete in track and field at the collegiate level. I have actively competed as a member and leader of track teams for the past six years in one of the most competitive environments in the United States.
Academic and athletic excellence are directly related in my opinion, so I have continuously ensured that my GPA remained above a 3.9 out of a 4.0 cumulative scale. Since my freshman year in high school, I have competed at the junior varsity and varsity level in the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles and the 4x400m relay events. I look forward to continue improving my times, deepen my commitment to physical training and wellness as well as preparing myself for the intense competition at the collegiate level. Along with my passion for track and field, I also compete competitively at a nationally ranked cheerleading gym named Woodlands Elite. I am currently on their high profile team; the Generals. During my time here with Woodlands Elite, I am a leader and have taken part in competitions across the United States against the best athletes which has taught me that preparation and dedication to my craft is extremely important.
I currently have a 3.97 GPA, and have Taken both my ACT and SAT. My short term goal is to demonstrate my athletic and academic abilities to gain a track and field scholarship at a university where I can pursue my long term goal of becoming a board certified physician in either orthopedics or sports medicine. I believe that my competitive nature, orientation towards being a team player and compassion for others will make this long term goal a great fit for both my individual goals and for the greater community in which I have the pleasure of serving.
I have learned during the course of my competitive life is that my academic and athletic performance is something I always wanted to combine. I believe the opportunity to become a collegiate track and field athlete will allow me to combine these competencies and share my talents with the teammates, university and community that I will be fortunate enough to join. I look forward to sharing more of my story with you and appreciate the opportunity to be able to introduce myself.
